Practical information

At U-center you can quickly go for a treatment. Within 1 day we can process your registration and take the first telephone intake. Then we need a referral letter and documents from you. As soon as these are received, the information will be assessed by our team within 1 day. We will call you back immediately to schedule a consultation, which can usually take place within 2 weeks. If a positive clinical indication is reached during the advisory meeting, a date will be set immediately. The next spot is usually available within 4 weeks.

A medical screening will take place on the first day of admission.

On the first day of admission in Epen you will receive an explanation of the intensive treatment program, the first phase, the code of conduct that applies to clients and employees at U-center and medical screening takes place. 

To enable everyone to have a comfortable and safe stay in our treatment centre, we work with a code of conduct. U-center treats adults from the age of 18.

Unfortunately, if you require intensive daily physical care or hospital visits, we can unfortunately not offer you the appropriate care. If you are suffering from anorexia nervosa, are seriously underweight and need to receive intravenous nourishment, a specialized institution is more appropriate.

U-center’s programme is designed for people who have at least an average IQ. People with a low IQ may find the program too challenging. If desired, we can also assess a client’s IQ.

Visitors are welcome on Saturday and Sunday from 1.30 pm until 5.30 pm. The stay at U-center is completely devoted to the treatment. This means that contact between you and your loved one must take place outside the therapy hours in order not to disrupt the program. Visit this page for more information about visits and contact.

These visitation arrangements may deviate due to corona measures. The communication centre can tell you more about this.

It is not allowed to use your own motorized transport during your stay in Epen. We therefore request that you be brought to U-center by family or friends or by using public transport.

Your next of kin can be kept informed by your mentor/directing practitioner during your admission, but only with your written consent.

It is not possible to go home during the weekends. During admission you will remain in the clinic, including on weekends.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to tour the clinic at any time prior to your admission. This is in order to guarantee the privacy of the clients who are currently staying in our clinic. If you would still like to get an impression of U-center, we recommend that you watch a webinar.

Would you like to be treated at U-center? Then of course you want to know whether your health insurer reimburses the costs for a treatment. You will find more information on the costs & insurance page. We always make sure that you know exactly where you stand financially before you start.

Depending on where you live your insurance may cover your treatment. If you have a Dutch insurance you will have to pay a personal contribution. Consult the costs & insurance page for more information about your situation.

Each room is equipped with a TV.

Each room has a private bathroom.

You don't have to clean your room yourself. The cleaning staff takes care of this.

Our international treatment centre is equipped with all the necessary facilities and also provides some extras. For more information please consult our clinic facilities page.

Before the admission you will receive a list of all the items that you should bring yourself.

Yes, you must bring your own bathrobe.

You must bring your own sports towel.

This is not necessary. There are bath towels available in your room.

Washing machines and dryers are available in the clinic. You do need to bring your own washing powder/fabric softener.

Yes that is allowed. There is a bicycle shed at the back of the clinic, but keep in mind that it is unguarded.

That is possible.

Yes, but you can only use your mobile in your own room. Cell phone use is not allowed in public areas. This also applies to evenings after therapy.

Yes, but your laptop and/or tablet must remain in your room. The use of a laptop and/or tablet is not allowed in the public areas.

No, you can take your tablet with you to the clinic, but it must remain in your own room all day.

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in our clinic.

You can bring your guide dog/assistance dog with you, provided it is officially registered as a guide dog/assistance dog.

Breakfast and lunch consist of an healthy and tasty buffet, composed of (mostly organic) regional products. U-center offers varied, fresh and healthy meals that take into account diets and special wishes. You can always contact the restaurant/service center in advance to ask about the options for your specific situation.

Clients are obliged to eat with their group three times a day, but it is also possible to occasionally eat a meal in your room. However, these will be exceptional cases. You can discuss this with your mentor.

U-center discourages the use of alternative medications/nutritional supplements that are not prescribed by a doctor. You are therefore not allowed to take this with you.
